The Unified Administrative Sector (UAS) of the MOD was set up by the Civil Personnel Directorates of the Armed Forces' General Staffs in 1994, in order to tune and regulate the issues concerning to the Civil Personnel of the Armed Forces.

The Special Secretary, who supervises the services of the UAS, is responsible for issues that refer to the Civil Personnel of the Armed Forces such as employment matters, appointments of training staff at military schools, permanency of civil personnel, placements, transfers, detachments, promotions, dismissals of regular employees and compositions of official councils.

The operation of the MOD's Unified Administrative Sector is defined according to the clauses of the Ministerial Decisions F.470/56/4462/17-6-1994 (FEK B 480/24- 6-94) and F.000/2/791/7-3-2002 (FEK B 282/7-3-2002) of the Minister of National Defence, including some possible modifications, while at the same time it is being reviewed in the framework of the Armed Forces' reorganization and modernization.
